MRDC showcases MROT2 investments

The Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) hosted a MROT2 (Mineral Resources Ok Tedi 2) investment tour this week.

A delegation of leaders from the North Fly District in Western Province including LLG presidents, managers and officers were taken to MROT2 investment sites in Port Moresby and outside Central.

MROT2 is a subsidiary of the MRDC Group which represents the Western Provincial Governments interest in the Ok Tedi Mine.

Its asset value under MRDC management sits at K2.4 billion (K2436.1million) as of December 2025.

MROT is one of two other mining subsidiaries under MRDC with interests in the Ok Tedi Mining operation, the other two being Mineral Resources Star Mountain (MRSM) and MRCMCA.

MRDC managing director and chief executive officer Augustine Mano said MRDC holds interest in mining, oil and gas projects through its subsidiaries which it has invested into various developments in PNG and outside the country.

He said the Future looks even brighter for the mining subsidiaries with the record gold price for New Porgera and OK Tedi.

“The signing of the mine life Extension for OK Tedi gives greater scope to invest better for the future, learning from the past,” Mr Mano said.

Some of MROT2 current properties and major investments include:

  • Prestige Apartments
  • Fly River Haus
  • Park Service apartments
  • Hohola Villas
  • Sienna Apartments
  • Star Mountain Service Station
  • MRDC Haus
  • Pacific MMI Building
  • Bank South Pacific Financial Group Limited
  • Kina Assets Management
  • Pacific International Hospital
  • PNG Air

North Fly District Administrator and MROT2 Director Greg Isau said the investment tour is important for the delegation to be exposed to the investments that have been done.

“Its good that they come and appreciate the investments that we have been talking about,” Mr Isau said.

“They are direct beneficiaries as respective LLG presidents to the LLG’s in North Fly.  “Its important that they come and see and take back what they have seen and advocate and share with our other partners and the people in the village that this is what MRDC is doing for Western Province and North Fly especially.”
