The 2026 Education Subsidy Program provides tuition subsidies to students in mining, gas, and petroleum project areas. MRDC administers the program, ensuring a fair and transparent selection process that adheres to board-approved policies and regulations. Since 2022, the program has supported 8,848 students.

Applications Closed
Applications officially closed on 02 January 2026.
Late submissions will only be accepted until 30 January 2026 from
company Directors. No late applications will be accepted from the
general public. -
Vetting & Selection 05 January – 30 January 2026.
All submitted applications will be reviewed and vetted during this period. - Notification of Successful Applicants 02 February – 13 February 2026 Successful applicants will be contacted directly.

Payment of Fees 16 February – 27 February 2026
MRDC will facilitate for fees to be paid directly to the respective institutions. Parents or guardians are responsible for upfront registration fees. Subsidiary companies will not make payments to individual student bank accounts.

Tuition Subsidy Eligibility by Region
Students from the following regions under the trustee companies are eligible for the tuition subsidy.

Eligible regions: Fasu (Lower & Upper), Foe, Kikori PL2 (Kibiri, Kerewo, Rumu & IKP)

Eligible regions: PDL 3&4

Petroleum Resources Moran Limited (PDL 5&6):
Eligible regions: PDL 5, Homa, Paua, Baguale & Yalanda, Urri Region (Moran Fasu)

Gas Resources PNG LNG Hides 4 Limited
Eligible regions: Eligible regions: Parepare, Ketaranda, Timalia Kangulu, Tuguba, Middle Block and Tawanda Tokaju

Gas Resources PNGLNG Pipeline Limited
Eligible regions: Segment 1, 2 & 3, Segment 4, 5 & 6, Segment 7 & 8

Gas Resources PNGLNG Plant Site Limited
Eligible regions: Eligible regions: Papa, Lealea, Boera, Porebada villages.

Mineral Resources Star Mountain (MRSM)
Eligible regions: Bultem, Finalbin, Wangbin, Migalsim, Kavorabip, Atemkit, Kawentigim, Korkit, Ankit, Okma, Oktedi Tau and Nioksikwi villages.

Mineral Resources CMCA
Eligible regions: Nupmo, Tutuwe, Waitri, Middle Fly, Suki Fly Gogo, Manawete, Dudi, Kiwaba.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must complete Grade 12.
- Be a direct beneficiary (Project area defined by the project MOAs/Tribe of origin/ILG or Clan).
- Must have the minimum entry level qualifications if you are attending or accepted to a technical, trade or vocational institution.
- Must be an existing or is accepted to attend an institution recognized by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST), National Training Council and preferred by MRDC.
- Application form has to be fully completed and supported or endorsed by the ILG/Clan Chairman.
- Provide an acceptance or confirmation letter from the institution.
- List Item Provide a Character Reference Letter from any of the persons: Local Ward Councillor, Local Pastor or Local School Teacher.
Application Process
- Form Availability : Electronic (PDF) forms at www.mrdc.com.pg or email scholarships@mrdc.com.pg. Hard copies will be delivered to communities from November to January 2026.
- Submission : Ensure all e-copies are in PDF format and clear. Incomplete forms are ineligible.
Selection Process
- Registration: Submit applications before the closing date on January 03, 2024, for registration and data entry.
- Vetting: The Education Subsidy Selection Committee will vet applications. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. An Offer Letter and Student Detail Form will be sent to the successful candidate. Candidates must be contactable via email or phone calls.
- Payment: Fees will be credited directly to the respective institutions’ bank accounts.
- Continuing Awardees: Students supported under this program since 2022 and will continue to 2025 program are required to ensure you submit completed Student Bio Data Form. Contact scholarship office to verify records if unsure of your status.
- Students on termination, withdrawn or suspended by their study institution based on disciplinary and academic matters will lose this award. Contact scholarship officers for further information.
- Note: The subsidy program does not cover travel tickets, off-campus accommodation, book and laptop allowances, or stipends. by their study institution based on disciplinary and academic matters will lose this award. Contact scholarship officers for further information.
- The trustee companies and its board recognise all accredited institutions under the Department of Higher Education Research, Science and Technology (DHERST).
